Stephen Michael
James, Steve Ovett was born on 9th of October 1955. He is a former
middle distance runner from England. One of the best of Ovett’s events is that he
was gold medalist in the 800m at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, USSR. He ran
at the same time as another great British middle distance runner, Sebastian
Coe. Ovett holds the UK record for 2 miles (3.219m). The reason behind why he
giave up football is that because he did not want to do a sport where he would
have to rely on teammates. In 1987 a bronze of Steve Ovett was erected in
Preston, Brighton; however, it was stolen in 2007, and has not been replaced.
Last but not least, Ovett is now 58 years old and lives in Australia.
